Ted Robinson — Where the Legend Began
Ted Robinson holds a unique place in NRCHA World's Greatest Horseman history — he is the inaugural champion, the man who won the very first WGH competition in 1999 and set the standard for every champion who followed. His 1999 victory at the Fort Worth Stock Show established the precedent of excellence that has defined the event for more than 25 years.
Robinson did not simply win once and step aside. His 2001 championship — the third time the event was held — made him the first rider to win the WGH more than once, setting a benchmark of repeat success that only a handful of competitors have subsequently matched. The combination of being both the inaugural champion and the first repeat winner gives Robinson an unparalleled historical significance in the sport.
Ted Robinson won the first WGH ever held in 1999 — and then came back in 2001 to prove it was no accident, becoming the first rider in history to win the championship more than once.
