Biography
Jon Roeser returned to the World's Greatest Horseman in 2005 and claimed his second title aboard Very Smart Remedy in the event's first year in Stephenville, Texas. The Smart Little Lena son was a horse of exceptional quality — one that would go on to become a prominent sire, with offspring competing and winning at the highest levels of reined cow horse competition long after his championship year.
Roeser's 2005 title was the fulfillment of a multi-year commitment to building a horse capable of winning at the WGH level. His program in Lemoore, California, had produced a champion in 2002, and by 2005 he had developed another — this time in a horse whose bloodlines would influence the sport for a generation. Very Smart Remedy's siring record became a meaningful part of the reined cow horse world, adding a dimension to the 2005 WGH title that extended well beyond the championship itself.
Roeser's two WGH titles place him among the event's multi-time champions — a group defined by the ability to not just reach the top of the sport once, but to sustain the preparation, the horse development, and the competitive focus required to do it again. His 2002 and 2005 victories bookend a formative era in WGH history.
