Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

The NRCHA World's Greatest Horseman is held annually at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo — one of the oldest and largest livestock shows in the United States. Held each January and February at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, the Stock Show is a cornerstone of western heritage and agriculture that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors and competitors from across the country and around the world.

Fort Worth's identity as "Cowtown" — built on cattle drives, stockyards, and western tradition — makes it the ideal home for the World's Greatest Horseman. The city's deep roots in cattle culture and western horsemanship create an atmosphere unlike any other venue in the country, and the WGH held within that context carries a weight of tradition and significance that elevates it above other championship events.

The Will Rogers Memorial Center, where the WGH is held, is a Fort Worth landmark that has hosted western events for decades — its arenas and coliseums carrying the history of generations of competition within their walls.

The Stock Show Atmosphere

The Fort Worth Stock Show runs for several weeks, encompassing livestock exhibitions, rodeo performances, equestrian competitions, and the full spectrum of western agriculture and culture. The WGH is one of the marquee equestrian events within the show, drawing large crowds of knowledgeable western fans who understand and appreciate the athleticism and horsemanship on display at the highest level.

For riders and horses competing in the WGH, the Fort Worth atmosphere — packed arenas, experienced audiences, and the weight of the event's history — creates a competitive environment that tests not only athletic ability but composure and presence under pressure. Champions at Fort Worth earn their title in conditions that mirror the very best western equestrian competition anywhere in the world.
