Ron Emmons — The Back-to-Back Champion
Ron Emmons accomplished one of the rarest feats in NRCHA World's Greatest Horseman history — winning the championship in consecutive years. His back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013 place him alongside Russell Dilday as one of only two riders to win the WGH in consecutive years, a mark of sustained excellence at the very top of reined cow horse competition.
Back-to-back championships require not only performing at a champion level once, but maintaining that level through a full year of competition, training, and preparation — then performing even better when the pressure of defending a title is at its highest. Emmons met that challenge in 2013 and repeated his 2012 victory, cementing his place among the WGH's elite.
Consecutive WGH titles — won in 2012 and 2013 — remain one of the rarest achievements in the event's 27-year history, matched only by Russell Dilday's 2008-2009 back-to-back run.
