Ron Emmons and Olena Oak went back-to-back in 2013, joining an exclusive group in WGH history. Before them, only Ted Robinson and Katie Starlight (1999, 2001) and Ron Ralls (2003, 2004) had claimed consecutive titles — but Emmons and Olena Oak did it with the same horse in consecutive years, a feat that had only been matched by Dilday and Topsails Rien Maker (2008–2009) at that point in the event's history.

The 2013 championship was a demonstration of the sustained quality of Olena Oak's preparation. Returning a championship horse to peak performance the following year requires careful management — physically, mentally, and competitively. The demands of the WGH are exceptional, and a horse that has already reached the summit once carries different pressures the second time. That Emmons navigated those demands and returned Olena Oak to championship form is a reflection of the depth of his horsemanship and his understanding of the horse in his care.

The Smart Chic Olena bloodline's continued dominance through Olena Oak's back-to-back titles confirmed what Ron Ralls had demonstrated a decade earlier — that this lineage carried something special for the reined cow horse world. Emmons' consecutive championships with that bloodline added a significant chapter to its WGH legacy.
